ABOUT US
Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church believe to, have been founded by Saint Thomas (Mar Thoma), one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ, and known by the name of the Apostle, in the year AD 52, Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar is one of the oldest denominations of Christianity. The Church defines itself as “Apostolic in origin, Universal in nature, Biblical in faith, Evangelical in principle, Ecumenical in outlook, Oriental in worship, Democratic in function, and Episcopal in character. Headquartered at Thiruvalla, Kerala,India, the church has over 1.6 million (approx) followers across the globe. The Church comes together for the purpose of bringing each member into spiritual maturity (Ephesians 4:13). This Church, in conformity with the faith of the Christian Church in all ages, believes in Jesus Christ, God incarnate for the redemption of mankind, and in the TRIUNE God revealed by Him, who is himself in that trinity. The Holy Bible consisting of the sixty six books comprised in the Old and New Testaments, accepted by the Mar Thoma Syrian Church as the basis of all matters of doctrine and faith, and the Nicene Creed, formulated in accordance with the Holy Scriptures.
OUR VISION
The Church identifies its goal and function as: to be the repository of the divine doctrines revealed by Jesus Christ and proclaimed by His Apostles; to maintain these doctrines in their purity; to promote the spiritual life of its members through the administration of the sacraments and by the ministry of the Word. The Church affirms that the people of God are sent all over to the world and they partake in the soteriological mission of God, to unite everything in Jesus Christ through the ministry of reconciliation begun in Jesus Christ.
OUR LEADERSHIP
Malankara Marthoma Syrian Church of Malabar is blessed and enriched by the leadership of Metropolitan, Episcopas, ordained Clergy and deacons. Metropolitan is the Supreme head of the Church.The Church is at present blessed by the able leadership of ten Bishops and is headed by Most Rev. Dr. Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan who is the 22nd Malankara Metropolitan to occupy the Holy Apostolic Throne of St. Thomas. The Church is served by 1184 clergy through thirteen dioceses to 1.6 million people (aprox) with its headquarters in Thiruvalla, Kerala, India.

Wellington Congregation of Marthoma Church belongs to Malankara Marthoma Syrian Church of Malabar. Our objective is to promote Christian way of life according to its faith and doctrines particularly among the migrant community of
Marthoma church in Wellington, New Zealand. Rt. Rev. Dr. Gregorios Mar Stephanos Episcopa consecrated as Episcopa on 08/13/2011 serves as the diocesan Episcopa of Malayasia - Singapore-Australia-New Zealand.
